We're transplanted Virginians -- living in the Finger Lakes area of upstate NY, in the truly charming hamlet of Trumansburg. Current life goals: opening a small winery, raising our sons to be good people, and making the best riesling in the New World.

The day has arrived!
I woke up at 4:00am on Friday (the 10th) morning to Sarah saying "um... I think my water just broke." She wasn't due for another 3 weeks, so we were a little doubtful (and very unprepared). We layed there for a while debating whether this was actually happening, but she soon started having some relatively serious contractions very close together. After this point our debating ended and we threw some stuff in a bag, fed the cats, and sped to the hospital. Six hours later our son, William Wittich Thompson, entered the world, weighing in at 6 pounds 7 ounces. Check out some pictures here.

What precious photos of a darling little boy--and a beautiful mother and handsome father, too, of course. I'm so glad I'll be able to check in and keep up!
